Tradition of caring

Yoder-Culp Funeral Home has been a staple of the Goshen community since 1955.  It was founded on the principle of care; two brothers believed they could earn people’s trust by treating them the right way, caring for them sincerely in their time of need, and no matter what, always doing the right thing.  Those principles have survived for 68 years and have passed down to me, Yoder-Culp’s third generation owner and funeral director.  Professionally, I have been caring for Goshen’s families for 14 years and I look forward to caring for Goshen in a new way as I seek to represent Goshen’s 5th district on City Council.  Whether I’m serving at work, or for the city of Goshen, my principles remain the same; above all else we must seek to do what is right, and to do it within the tradition of caring, following these principles we will be able to do what ultimately is best for Goshen.

Meet COLIN

I have lived in Goshen my entire life, and in District 5 for all but the first two years of my life.  I attended Parkside Elementary School, Bethany Christian Middle School, and Bethany Christian High School, graduating in 2004.  After high school, I attended Bluffton University and graduated with top honors in 2008 with a B.A. in Religion.  After graduating from Bluffton, I enrolled in the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science and graduated in 2009, receiving an A.A.S. in Mortuary Science.

Following mortuary school, I married Mackenzie Long in 2010, and look forward to celebrating our 13th wedding anniversary this September.  Our greatest joy in life is our 10-year-old daughter, Natalie.  She is energetic, creative, athletic, and loves to laugh.  Natalie has a vast array of interests and succeeds in whatever she puts her mind to.

Today, I am a third-generation co-owner of Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.  Yoder-Culp Funeral Home goes back 160 years with 68 years in its current location.  My grandpa John once told me that if you treat people the way you would want to be treated, and strive to always do what is right, everything else will take care of itself.  He was right, and I am thankful for Goshen’s continued trust in Yoder-Culp.

Being a co-owner of a small business and being grounded in solid principles gives me the background and experience one needs to serve on Goshen’s City Council. Owning a small business means looking into the future to predict upcoming needs, planning for those needs, and budgeting for those needs. This is the type of foresight that Goshen will appreciate having on its City Council. I have a willingness to listen and a partisan-free commitment to make decisions based on what is best for all of Goshen. Supporting my campaign is supporting a campaign that is anchored in common sense, respect, and dignity, with a focus on a better community for all.
