What do you think of when you hear Goshen Fire Department? For some of you, you may recall an incident where you needed the service of our paramedics and firefighters. For others, you may have a child who dreams of becoming a firefighter when they grow up.
Emergency Response Plans
I have had the opportunity to work with Chief Dan Sink and the firefighters of the Goshen Fire Department. They serve our community with hearts of sincerity, dedication and integrity. I have had the pleasure of working with the fire department on many construction projects over the past few years. When construction projects occur throughout the city, I must work with the department to develop special emergency response plans for the duration of the construction work.
Waverly Avenue Bridge Project
The most recent project was the Waverly Avenue Bridge Rehabilitation project. The bridge across the Millrace Canal needed to be shut down. The four homes on the west side of the bridge had no access for vehicles - let alone an ambulance or fire truck. Chief Sink and Assistant Chief Ramer met with me on site, and together we determined how access would be provided to the residents if an EMT was needed, or if there happened to be a fire.
A special emergency response plan was developed for the specific duration of the bridge being closed. This plan had many detailed steps including how to provide the most effective and efficient emergency services during this time.
Thank you, Goshen Fire Department!
I have a deep appreciation for each and every firefighter (and their families) serving on the Goshen Fire Department. Their dedication to the residents of Goshen shows through each and every day - and to that I say thank you!
